Amazon is throwing brick-and-mortar book establishments a lifeline by supplying them with a 10 percent discount on all Kindle books marketed on devices acquired in their establishments. The news arrives as retail and secondhand book vendors encounter a decline in physical sales as consumers scoop up tablets, smartphones and e-readers to take in books in digital kind.
